Let me Live....

Some of the most alluring problems of today’s Indian society shockingly are issues of socio-legal concern. I would say mostly social because, it is only the society and its people who can restrict or curb out these problems. Laws do show us a way to live in the society and they do control the ill-manners of the mass. But laws cannot impose duties on us in the true sense. If we as individuals are not concerned for the benefits of the world in which live in, no law can help us or show us ways to handle our problems. One of the most prevalent and shocking matter of today’s concern is the growing rate of Female- Foeticide and Female- Infanticide or going by the strict medical term Sex- Selective abortion.
It was said in the yester years that spread of education amongst the masses would bring down these social problems and would eliminate them from the society. However, sadly, this didn’t turn up. Rather with growing awareness amongst people, such crimes are increasing manifold. The laws are no- doubt very strict. But who follows them? A large number of the population overlooks such laws conveniently and work their ways to turn things on their side. A vast development in science & technology has only given encouragement to such crimes, as people get easier ways to carry out their operation.
What remains the essential flaw in the system which, still leads to such crimes of killing the foetus? A laid- back attitude towards changes coming up or the age old beliefs that still revolves round people’s mind. It is nothing but a severe threat to the humanity at large.
Lack of social responsibility amongst the doctors or the concerned professionals and poor mind set of the populace heartens such offences. It is of a shame on the part of us Indians that even after 65 years of independence, we have not been able to curtail such sins. The Indian culture has never talked about destroying any life form; it is just the outlook of people and their own formations that has brought about such felonies into the society.
This thought is an appeal to the humanity at large to look out and extend their hand to erase such wrongs still existing in our society.

Look who is speaking! On the contrary, aren't you studying law?? :P

Well, it’s a good one. Well described. Rather I would say its captured the very essence of what it should convey, very well. Of late I was thinking that this 'girl child - bane' issue is no more part of today's world, particularly in India. The reason being I haven’t read or heard of any female feticide since long. It either means that what I believe is correct or maybe I’m not well versed with the reality. But it seems you are right in raising a concern yet again. Today one of my colleagues returned from his short trip back home for the delivery of his first child. It’s not that he smiles a lot, but then when I asked him if it’s a boy or a girl, he didn’t seem quite happy in saying that its a girl. As stupid as it sounds, is definitely as crazy as some people treat this issue.

But I’m a l'il puzzled. How have you diverted your concern from satisfying your tummy and that towards how you look to.. how the world around you looks like !!?

Aah ! Unbelievable !! :-D

1 fine day me n my pal were having a furious argument on this topic and the only conclusion we derived was that its all an intricate system of extremely well connected evils and recklessness...lack of education, awareness, dowry, social stigmas attached, the very idea that girl goes away and guy stays back to help u when u r old and grumpy which doesnt happen most of the times...these pieces have fit in perfectly to create a puzzle that looks impossible to break !
