Rights that what they call it!

Sunday, 12 July 2009

Since the freedom movement what we India’s talk about is ‘Rights’. Rights of minorities and Dalits no doubt emerged as end product of the divide and rule policy of our 100 years rulers but what happened is that it imbibed a feeling amongst us people that nothing can change or go better if we don’t talk about giving the suffered classes healthier set of constitutional or rather political recognition! But how does this philosophy that we carry is appropriate? Does just a constitutional recognition solve the entire barrier any one put up with?
The implementation of the recent quota system for OBCs and the bill for reservation for women in the parliament and many such quotas for people in different sectors, how has it helped our country men to grow? May be there are many people who have gained because of such laws being enacted but in a broader sense if we look at it, do we really need any quota system or any such reservations for people if they are trained properly? Why can’t there be a constant check towards the primary systems in every case. A better implementation of primary school system in all over the country would definitely help people devoid of their basic rights get improved life. If we do not concentrate in the root cause of any problem what we have been facing, how do we get over with this? Why do we have to need reservations for women in the parliament where there isn’t any such necessary? Anyone who is well fit to be a part of the Indian parliament should get a chance to be there rather than any such reservation process. Everyone who is fit for a job to carry would be employed. Why someone should be given more preference because he would supposedly be discriminated if not given over a job or anything in that context?
Discrimination isn’t something which does goes away from the picture if we start creating quotas for people. The suffered class should be given social rights rather than constitutional ones. The society at large has to understand that it is due to betterment of the whole folk to get a maturity level and treat every being one this planet as equal. Every being has its own value and we don’t have social rights to do away with them. State should come out with stricter social rules to do away with any kind of injustice happening to anyone rather than making laws which are not even utilized in a larger sense and bring out all wrong implications. For a change to take place we have to hold hands and accept what is good for us and where do we gain without hurting any being. A matured society can do a lot to get away with the endurance of people at large!

agreed.. reservations solve nothing.. with every new reservation, somebody or the other gets provoked which leads to demonstrations, bandhs and what not.. leading to more losses.. as you said, things need to be done at grassroot level and not superficially to make a section happy..
